Through the use of the Tranzman Virtual Appliance, or the use of the TZM Recorder tool, data can be exported / collected from one Data Center before being shipped to another where it can be merged with another environment, or used as a recovery solution for the legacy data.
Tranzman has been used, to migrate the NetBackup catalog off a master server that was being mothballed. The catalog was exported to a Tranzman server that was installed as a Virtual Appliance, the virtual appliance was then moved to the new Data Center and then the exported catalog was merged with another NetBackup catalog at the new location.
Tranzman has been used to facilitate the recovery of Data Protector data. Using the TZM_Recorder tool, a recording of the Data Protector environment was made, this was then backed up to a tape in the Data Protector environment, The tape was imported as a "virtual agent" onto a Tranzman Appliance, and it was used to build an index of all the data from the Data Protector environment.
