Backup systems are frequently targeted by actors target during a ransomware attack. Their aim is to prevent an organisation from being able to recover data rather than pay a ransom. The attacks on backups vary, from causing the backups to fail before they have completed, to corrupting the backup servers software and its databases making it hard to perform a recovery.
Tranzman has the ability to read and index disk and tape backups, allowing you to discover and recover files that were being backed up at the time of the attack. This can be used to discover the last backup of the backup server and its databases and to get your back environment back up and running, or to retrieve as much data as possible from the backups that were running at the time the attack took place and that may not have been allowed to complete.
Tranzman is installed within the customers environment, so systems / media do not need to be sent offsite. Tranzman will write all recovered data to network shares making it quick and easy for a customer to start the recovery and retrieval process even while law enforcement agencies, and forensic specialists are working on the original systems.
